My work is inspired by themes of memory, personal history, and shared experience. I am interested in our exposure to information, how we process imagery and how this informs our decision making.
I begin my process by gathering images to reference in my paintings, a lot of which I find on the internet like patterns in a dress or the color combinations in a Moroccan rug. I filter out visual information that is interesting and comforting to me. My work is about process and my paintings become studies in form, color, line, and texture. Through working this way, I create new worlds where my influences converge. My work references back to a collection of real things or moments and the paintings feel familiar, like a memory, but are also completely new and unknown.
