A solo exhibition of artwork by Raleigh-based artist, King Nobuyoshi Godwin

Charlotte Russell Contemporary is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of artwork by acclaimed artist King Nobuyoshi Godwin on view March 4 to April 6, 2022 with an opening reception on Friday, March 11, 2022, 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Raleigh artist King Nobuyoshi Godwin paints numbers as Monet paints dots. While at first glance, the marks simply look like lines, the marks really are numbers. In using repeated numbers he creates texture, pattern, and a larger design.

His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationally in galleries and museums like the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC. In 2021, Raleigh Magazine named Godwin one of the “The New Influentials 20 people in their 20’s”, Raleigh NC.

He attended the Special Education program of Wake County School Systems and received a certificate from Leesville High School in Raleigh NC in 2012. King attended UNC at Greensboro for one year, living away from home in the college dorm for the Beyond Academics Program in 2013. King became a painter in 2013. In addition to his parents, Thomas & Yuko Taylor and a brother Malik Nobumasa Godwin, he has many other supporters of his painting career. King currently lives in an apartment attached to parents home independently. He is a proud team member of the Special Olympic Raleigh Racer Swimmers and a performing member of Special Japanese Taiko-Drum ensemble.
