On view at Hartwell, Abie Harris' solo exhibition explores the notion of home.
Charlotte Russell Contemporary is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Abie Harris' work focused on the notion of home. The exhibit will be on view at Hartwell (620 W South Street, Raleigh, NC), December 5, 2022 through April 30, 2023, with an artist reception on Friday, February 3, 2023, 6 to 8 pm.
Featured artworks study exterior impressions of home and the architecture of domestic objects and spaces within it. The works study places of meaning for Harris: Vinalhaven, ME, Blowing Rock, NC, and Raleigh, NC.
Visualizing architectural concepts was the essence of his work as the University Architect at NC State University. Creating forms and exploring their relationships with color were the foundations of this work and now are the foundations of my paintings and drawings. Visual structure, whether in teapots, water towers, or ordinary objects, presents an ongoing exploration of forms and their interrelationships.
