Jennifer Small is an abstract painter whose work is about elevating visual curiosities observed in overlooked banality resulting in the analysis of her personal journey.
The work, while formalist at first glance, is a record of a day in the life–a process which starts with photographic documentation. The compiled frames collected after narrowing down the panoramic represent blocks of time and place during the process of experiencing her daily routine. The collection of sightings are broken down and combined to become the lines, shapes, and patterns of the paintings while the color palette is left to the imagination.
